This will not fix everybody's problem as each situation is different, but this is what helped me. Once you've done this, try loading the game back up and playing.Click "Add an Exclusion", then "Folder", then paste the copied folder path and then click Select Folder.Scroll down to "Exclusions" and then click "Add or remove exclusions".Click on "Manage Settings" directly under Virus & threat protection settings.Open the start menu, type "windows security" and launch the security center.Click on the address bar and press "Copy Address as Text".In the address bar, you'll see the full path for the Antimalware executable file.Right-click on the process and select Open File Location. In the list of processes, search for "Antimalware Service Executable".Open "Task Manager" (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).I didn't think this would work, BUT IT DID. This helped me DRASTICALLY reduce the CPU usage and I believe this is what stopped my crashing completely. Second, and MOST IMPORTANT- Add Antimalware Service Executable to Windows Defender's exclusion list.Make sure the above slider is in the 'Off' position Make sure the notifications are turned off.Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions.First- Disable taskbar notifications (this may be irrelevant, but it was the step I took directly prior to the next step, so it may or may not help). The cause of the problem for me was the Antimalware Service Executable (or Windows Defender) using over 40% of my CPU. So there was something else causing my CPU usage to be near 100%, and it wasn't the game. My CPU usage was abnormally high, even though the game itself was using 50% of the CPU. I crashed every time a notification popped up on my desktop, and I tried all the Nvidia driver "fixes" posted here and nothing worked Now, there are a few things that I noticed: This happened about 8 times before I gave up and tried to find a solution. Literally just playing the game one second and then staring at my desktop the next. I got on around 10:00 pm CST and I couldn't play a single game without the game closing out and sending me back to the desktop with no error message. I found a solution to my crashing problem that I ran into today.
